This textile piece is a memorial to the Spanish Civil War. The Spanish Civil War was the plateau of political struggle in the early years of the 20th century. During this period the ideological debate between right-wing and left-wing politics was fought on an international level of awareness and commitment, eventually contributing to the events that unfolded during the Second World War. The polarized struggle between fascists and ‘republicans’ on Spanish soil, surfaces again today throughout the Western world in what seems to be a general amnesia.
