MOM is a two-part, portable project designed for exhibition in intimate, private spaces. For a period of nearly five months, participants were able to request MOM—a box containing a camera obscura (repurposed from a medium format photographic camera) and a flipbook. Challenging our perceptions of time and materiality, MOM features a wilting daisy inside the projector, which appears to rotate in circular motions when illuminated. Simultaneously, the flipbook invites viewers to manually generate an illusion of movement, with a concrete fragment spinning in a full 360-degree rotation.
MOM seeks to question the role of mediums in shaping our experience of objects, materiality and time, offering a subtle exploration of how these concepts are mediated and perceived.MOM is a two-part, portable project designed for exhibition in intimate, private spaces.
